He doesnt recognize poverty, kindness, and love. During nights, he faced the four ghosts, who were trying to teach him life lessons. After that, he realizes money is not the only thing that matters in the world. Scrooge learns a great deal about himself and the world him as a result of the visits by the spirits. Marley is Scrooges former business partner, but he died seven years ago. Marleys face came up to Scrooge on Christmas Eve to warn him. The warning is about Scrooges cruel actions towards people. Unless he changes his ways, he will be wearing the big chains. Marley hopes to save his old partner from suffering a similar fate. He is symbolized by the big chain, which is partly made up of money cases and keys. The chain represents greedy and evil deeds on the earth. Scrooge learned that he will also have to wear big chains, if he doesnt change his actions on the community. He found out about needs in this world and the real job of mankind is to involve in the community. The Ghost of Christmas Past is the first spirit to visit Scrooge, and has a childs body with a shining head. The Ghost of Christmas Past is the soul of the disagreement of Scrooges youth and old age. A beam of light display from his head is to show the truth about his past. Scrooge tried to put out the light when he feels that he is unable to hold the memories that the ghost is showing to him and he said I dont know what to do! As he cried and said again I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as merry as a school-boy. I am as giddy as a drunken man. A merry Christmas to every-body! A happy New Year to all the world! Hallo here! Whoop! Hallo! With the presentation of Scrooge past, the ghost makes him realize that he has changed considerably from who he was when he was young. The ghost also makes him realize what he is capable of doing about society. It makes him recognize the good people living in the society, such as Belle and Fezziwig. The Ghost of Christmas Present, who has a magic torch, shows Scrooge the homes of Bob Cratchit and Scrooges nephew, Fred. As the time passes the ghost, who was young when he first became visible to Scrooge, seems to get older. The ghost represents how plenty is the resources, which includes joy, around the society. His torch is in the shape of the Horn of Plenty and when he sprinkles the magic juice on the people, they are filled with the kindness and joyfulness. In both homes, the family members think about Scrooge, although he hasnt been good to either his clerk, or his nephew. Seeing that, Scrooge learned there are people, who care about him, and how he is isolated from society. He also got to realize that a person can be living happily without necessarily get rich. Scrooge figured out that want and ignorance are dangerous for the society. The Ghost of Christmas Future is partly invisible, come to Scrooge and he said Ghost of the Future, as he exclaimed, I fear you more than any spectre I have seen. But as I know your purpose is to do me well, and as I hope to live to be another man from what I was, I am prepared to bear you company, and do it with a thankful heart. Will you not speak to me? but the ghost shows Scrooge about what happens when he dies and also brings the warning of his pitiless death, which is reflected by his past actions. Phantom Warriors :: essays research papers

Title: Phantom Warriors ,book 1 Author: Garry A.Linderer Main characters: many LRRP’s LRP’s and Ranger nits in Vietnam   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Summary: The book I read was about LRRP’s (long range reconnaissance patrol) , LRP’s (long range patrols) , and Ranger units in Vietnam. The book told stories of several different types of operations in the units most challenging times. The job of a unit of this type was to infiltrate a designated RA( recon area) stealth like as possible with a four to seven man team (sometimes larger). Once on the ground a team would set up an OP ( observation post) and would always try and remain undetected. Because of the small number of size an LRP would always avoid contact with the enemy but , the book proved to me that when confrontation was inevitable the special forces units proved themselves a truly deadly force. I would say at least ninety percent of the time LRP’s would find themselves out numbered in a confrontation. If at all possible they would try and escape but sometimes fighting your way out was the only way. The LRRP Detactchment, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division had a problem like this. Staff Sergeant Papy Lynch and his team where patrolling a high activity area when there team was abutted by fifteen or twenty Viet Cong. Off the bat three men went down two seriously injured and the other shot in the head. There six man team was then a three man team. The two men at camp where busy fending off the invaders while one man that was off doing his â€Å"business† was finding his way back. He too was cought up in the unexpected fire and went down. Staff Sergeant Lynch called in the coordinates and after the ammo and grenades where almost out , air support showed up. Most of the VC where killed or ran away in fear of â€Å"Death from Above†. This was one of the most heroic stories in the book.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Weaknesses: This was a good book. I couldn’t find many weaknesses at all . The one thing I did notice was the similarity in each of the stories. It seamed liked the same thing would happen in a row. The team would usually end up running from a force of

Nuclear Energy Essay

There are many advantages and disadvantages of using nuclear power. Nuclear power is said to prevent power outages that happen in areas without nuclear power. For an example, if we were using hydroelectricity and the dam suddenly malfunctions, then we won’t have electricity until someone fixes the dam, and that would be difficult if it happened in the middle of the night. However, on the other hand, nuclear power is also considered toxic and it pollutes the Earth with harmful and deadly waste. Here are a few reasons why we should and should not use nuclear power. One of the reasons why we should use nuclear power is that it doesn’t pollute like coal and other fossil fuels. Scientists have said that using nuclear power is used to power electricity in most homes. They have also been saying that nuclear power tend to work better than using fossil fuels, gas power, and hydroelectric power. Since scientists are saying it works better, than we can use more nuclear power than using fossil fuels, gas power, and hydroelectric power. Another reason why we should use nuclear power is that scientists have said that it is possible to generate a high amount of electrical energy in one single nuclear power plant unlike coal, gas, hydroelectric power plants since they need a few to power electricity. This is important because it costs more to build a nuclear power plant than to build a coal, gas, or hydroelectric power plant. That way, we can save money by building one nuclear power plant instead of a few coal, gas, or hydro electric power plants. One more reason why we should use nuclear power is that scientists have been saying that the affect of global warming because of nuclear has been relatively little compared to coal, gas, and hydroelectric power. If we keep using nuclear power for electricity and other good uses, then there would be less global warming, but if we start to use more and more fossil fuels, then global warming will keep increasing in the future, so to prevent this, we can use nuclear energy. One of the reasons why we should not use nuclear power is that nuclear power is that nuclear energy releases radiation such as alpha, beta, and gamma radiation. Alpha particles can cause skin injuries similar to severe burns, beta particles can travel into the body and damage cells, and finally, gamma rays can deliver intense energy to the cells and cause severe damage. Radiation  from nuclear energy can wipe out the human generation, since mutation usually occurs when a person is affected by radiation. In order to prevent this from happening, we shouldn’t take chances and use nuclear energy. Another reason why we shouldn’t use nuclear power is because it takes many years for it to decay. Unlike coal, gas, and hydroelectric power, once you use it, it is not done. After a point where it has no more nuclear power, there are still radioactive waves in it that will still damage your cells. After the half-life of the radioactive element occurs, which could take a long time , only half of it has decayed. Nuclear energy can help, but later on we would have to dispose the nuclear waste to decay in a remote location. If we need remote locations to dispose nuclear waste, then one day we would run out of those areas, and possibly half of the world will be not be accessible to humans due to nuclear waste occupying the areas. One more reason why we shouldn’t use nuclear power is that one of the types of nuclear energy, nuclear fission produces high amounts of nuclear waste. Scientists have been saying that if we use nuclear energy, then we should be disposed off at a safe place since they are extremely hazardous and can leak radiation if not stored properly. If the wastes somehow get into the freshwater and saltwater systems, then all the sea animals will get affected, and we won’t be able to drink the water from the freshwater. Another type of nuclear energy, nuclear fusion doesn’t produce any nuclear waste unlike nuclear fission, but it is really hard to make, so since it is hard to make, it won’t be helpful for everyday electricity. In conclusion, there are many advantages and disadvantages against nuclear energy, but I think that as long as we keep the nuclear power plant is in a remote location where no one can go and get affected, we can use nuclear energy. When the nucle ar waste is produced, then we can dispose it off at a safe place since it’s extremely hazardous and can leak radiation if not stored properly. If we are going to use nuclear energy, then we should handle it carefully even if it is for electricity because if it is misused, then people who are affected by the radiation from the energy will have mutations or possibly even die.

Views on Whether China will Lead Space Exploration - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 2 Words: 511 Downloads: 5 Date added: 2019/07/01 Category Science Essay Level High school Tags: Space Exploration Essay Did you like this example? Launching the countrys first experimental space station, and building the Beidou navigation system, Chinas ambitious space program has made great progress in recent years. Surrounded by great triumphs, many Chinese people seem to have developed an illusion that their country is going to take the lead in space exploration. However, as the leader in space race, the US space industry is supported by the best science institutions in the world, and possesses technologies that is far beyond the Chinese space industry. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Views on Whether China will Lead Space Exploration" essay for you Create order This essay will make some comparisons between the space technology of China and the US, and clarify that China is far from ready to take over the position from the US in space exploration. First of all, we have to talk about the most fundamental technology required for sending satellites into orbit- rocket technology. Since the 1950s, America has developed five series of rockets. Among them, the commissioned Delta IV heavy is the most powerful rocket on the planet. It can carry 28.37 tons of loan to LEO (the low earth orbit). In China, the most often used LM IIs LEO capacity is only 8.8 tons, and the latest and most powerful Long March Vs LEO capacity is 25 tons. Although Delta IV heavy and LM V seems to be almost equally powerful, the status of LM5 is presently very unstable-one failure in two flight, the success rate is only 50%. Also, the first launched of LM5 in 2016 is 12 years later than Deltas. Moreover, US company SpaceX has developed mature technology of reusable rocket. Not only did they manage to cut down the cost of launching by 30%, they made it possible to get a rocket ready for a higher launching frequency. As we can see, although we cheerfully celebrate for Chinese rocket advancement, the US is already far ahead. The mission of the rocket ends quickly after the launching, and the rest of the exploration is handed over to various kinds of satellites. Although Chinese space station and moon rover has caught the attention of the world, China barely has any satellites launched for scientific purpose. Most of the satellites are launched to show the power of the nation. But when we take a look at the US, we can see that its satellites are voyaging across the solar system, and almost every knowledge that we have of the outer space is provided by US scientific satellites. Instead of showing off power, they are used to support advanced theories, and push human knowledge forward. Obviously, thats what space exploration should concentrate on, and China seems to be a little bit off track. In conclusion, although Chinese space technology has had tremendous improvement, its still too arrogant to say that we are surpassing the US. There are still many new technologies to develop and many years to go. Only by acknowledging our real position, instead of living in imaginary circumstances, can we recognize ourselves and go further.
